... START OF TRANSMISSION ...
So, why am I doing these ridiculously limited, hand-made editions?
First of all (of course) because I really like assembling them.... but, also (most importantly) because I think they make a powerful statement against the currently common perception of music / art as a “free for all” commodity!
I feel that total access, media overload and social inflation (while also providing very useful tools) are fundamentally damaging a key aspect of an essential creative process: music does make life a better place and artists / label should be adequately rewarded and supported in order to allow them making a good living and keep producing quality work (by the way, to make it clear, I don’t personally need this because of my job and I do think that illegal downloading is really stealing).
Now, in an attempt to counteract these ethically, professionally and ontologically perverse trends, I am going to upgrade the artifact approach and upscale it to commissioned projects: more specifically, besides going on with SRS standard releases and live performances, as of today I am also going to accept requests for “ad hoc” productions... if one is interested, she / can ask for a SRS individualized release... based on provided themes / references, I will then come up with titles and record / assemble a one copy release (+ a twin version for my archive) in whatever format is wanted (from 5” / 7” / 10 “ / 12” vinyl to CDR to tape to DL), including artwork of my choice / making.
The price for all of this will be equal to the effective production costs (and shipping, if applicable), entitling commissioner / acquirer to full ownership rights (i.e. do what you want, incl. re-issue or re-sell), because one has appropriately requested and compensated the creative process.
Please take into consideration that, while the above form of transaction applies to my own personal / current condition, I also need to re-emphasize that I strongly believe quality artistic work should be extremely well rewarded (i.e. the best artists should make more profit than many other professions, as they contribute more to “making sense” than most).
Well.... all for now... GET IT ON !
... END OF TRANSMISSION.
