During the long weeks of March and April 2020, for obvious reasons I have had much more time to focus and deploy energies on a number of releases…. from various SIGILLUM S works (such as the new album “Coalescence Of Time: Other Conjectures On Future”, as well as a major still TBD re-issue, a new 7” single and a collaboration with MACELLERIA MOBILE DI MEZZANOTTE) to the just published joint project with MARK SOLOTROFF (“Geological Plots & Subway Rifts”), new IUGULA-THOR recordings (the “Sisters” EP and a few more other surprises), preparation for the ENSEMBLE SACRÉ GARÇONS second album (“Demonization: These Worldly Powers”), finalization of a new SSHE RETINA STIMULANTS job (“Murked Clutter + Grandiose Punk”) and some other collaborative efforts with SUBTERRANEAN SOURCE too .

 

Meanwhile, I have also been experimenting with some further purely “solo work”, to be potentially released under my own name, as it has already been the case for material which falls more under a philosophically descriptive perspective than all my other ventures: here is a preview chapter of what is supposed to become a bigger book, in the form of a downloadable and/or streaming single digital track, “INTERVALLO D’OCCLUSIONE”…. inorganic realism on deep-ocean volcanic level.

Paolo L. Bandera & Mark Solotroff : "Geological Plots And Subway Rifts"

Today, Mark Solotroff and I are releasing our brand new collaboration through Mark’s Bandcamp site... as you may find out, this includes not only a full DL music album, but also a 40-pages PDF book, featuring a SF short story I have written and Mark’s visual interpretation... enjoy !

"Paolo and I discussed this collaboration when Paolo was last in Chicago, in November 2019. He proposed creating a set of songs to go with a text that he was thinking about and that I might add images to. During this period of "shelter in place" during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been communicating on a daily basis and we certainly had the time to get to work on the music and the companion book. It turns out that Paolo wrote a short science fiction story and I was quickly able to visualize the type of images that I would source and manipulate to go with his text. For the music, Paolo sent me eight synth tracks that he wanted me to react to. His tracks seemed like "lead" tracks to me, so I created eight tracks that I thought would function more as "foundations" for each song. Paolo executed the first mix and I then did some additional processing and editing. This process was very different for us, compared to when we sent cassette tapes back and forth through the mail in 1996 to create our four-cassette box set, "Excellent Manipulation Of Distorted Tape... Death," but the spirit of working together felt the same. Just faster! And maybe it seemed a bit "heavier," especially as Milan and the rest of Northern Italy was suffering such great loss during the time we were working on this together. At some point in the future, we may revisit this material to see if we want to create a physical release, but for now, we're happy to share the music and the companion PDF. Enjoy... "

Gen, we owe you a creative freedom we didn't think possible.

We owe you the spit right in the face of silence and the bashing of music in favour of pure power.

We owe you our meeting, most of our plans, a lot of our researches.

We admired you, followed you, left you, found you again, met you, laughed with you and for a while shared ourselves with TOPY..... so many times, endless together .... from Hackney to everywhere, including breakfast in Wroclaw and the last time in Heaven!

We looked for 23 and found it everywhere, where it belongs. We've been "Unclean" and walked on waters as you let us discover that everyone can do it. We did it. So, thanks a lot Genesis. Really. For everything. You changed many people lives. Ours for sure. We'll meet again somewhere between 19 and 23.
